Standish deserves a representative who shows up.

Tim Nickels, a firefighter, founder, and your neighbor, is running for the Maine House for Standish.

Primary: June 9, 2026.

Who I am

I'm Tim Nickels. I chose Standish because I wanted to put down roots somewhere that still felt like Maine, a community that looks out for its own.

I spent over 20 years as a firefighter running toward emergencies. I started Nickels Property Management because I believe in the dignity of honest work. And when I saw first responders and veterans suffering in silence, I founded Ember's Paws of Hope, a nonprofit that brings therapy dogs to fire stations, police departments, and veterans' facilities across our state.

I didn't do any of those things because someone asked me to. I did them because I saw a need and I stepped up. That's exactly what I'll do in Augusta.

What I'm Hearing

Every door I knock on in this district, I hear the same thing:

Energy costs

$500 electric bills are forcing families to make impossible choices every month.

Housing

Lifelong Mainers can't afford to stay in the communities they built.

Cost of living

Groceries, gas, and basics are out of reach for working families.

Education

Parents want schools that prepare kids for the real world, not politics.

People are doing everything right. And it's still not enough. That's not acceptable, and it's why I'm running.

Community service

Founder, Ember's Paws of Hope

Tim founded this 501(c)(3) nonprofit to bring certified therapy dogs to first responders, veterans, and healthcare workers across Maine. Because stepping up for the people who protect us doesn't stop when the shift ends.
